In downtown Plano, the Christmas tree was still full of lights and bows. Instead of the normal shot, I tried to zoom and capture with slower shutter to create sort of an abstract.
It would have been better if I had my tripod, but I think it worked OK.
My Wife and I have our Wedding Anniversary five days before Christmas, thanks to me (long story!). This year we went to Las Vegas.
Neither one of us came back with a lot of money, but it was nice to get away for a few days.
I found one of the Free things to do while there. Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden. Over a million lights on Cactus. Although it sounds different, it was actually very nice, AND they had really good hot chocolate!
As it gets closer to Christmas, the Reindeer get more and more restless. The door is open but being a little skittish, they are not quite ready to run out just yet.
While on a mini road trip a few weeks ago, I spotted this row of little trees along a fence. There was a small creek a few hundred feet away behind them. As I pulled off the road in what remained of a driveway to make this shot, I realized that when backing on to the pavement, I could not see if any traffic was coming from either direction.
After I captured a few images, I backed out really fast, threw it into drive and put the “pedal to the metal”. Sure enough as I topped the incline in front of me, another pickup truck was cresting the other side 100 feet behind me at 65 miles per hour!
As another Thanksgiving is almost here and will be gone before you know it. I am very Thankful.
Sometimes normal life gets a little crazy and things don’t turn out like we plan, but counting my blessings would be impossible. My Faith, Family and Friends keep me on “My Normal”. Photos help too!
I’m thinking this may be my last post of the mall for a while. I try to stop by at least once a week to see the progress. I was hoping I could have seen them tearing down the Sears sign, but too late, its already in the piles of tin steel and concrete.
Here is a panoramic shot from the raised parking lot to the east. I’m just a little too far away.
SEArS. The letters on the Sears end of the mall have been hanging for a while before the mall actually closed. I stopped by when you could still go inside the mall and could not resist to shoot the sign.

It wont be dangling much longer as the demo crew has started on that section of the mall.

Its kind of funny the barricade is still there. We sure don’t want that letter to fall on anyone!
Over the weekend I went to the demolition of Collin Creek mall early to see what progress had been made since last week. With just a few more grabs of the claw Macy’s will be gone.
The last iconic arch wall is now see through to the builders supply all the way across highway 75 to the east.
The bigger claw to the left is pulling the building apart while this one sorts the rubble.
As I came back from an errand, I drove back by on Sunday and most of this is gone too. One of the few times I left the house without my camera.
Collin Creek mall is well underway of being demolished to make room for the new facility.
It’s interesting, for me anyway, to watch the heavy machinery knock this building down. With the precision of a very large human hand, the operators can separate the tin from the re-bar and concrete and place in individual piles.
I will be back next weekend to see how much more is knocked down. At some point I may post a photo time-laps.
