Zebadiah Duck – Day 15

30-30-1 Project Day 15

Today Zebadiah got to take a little road trip to Richardson. It’s is a little road trip because you can’t tell where Plano ends and Richardson begins. Nonetheless it is a few miles from our house.

Zebadiah, being a native Texan, wanted to see some Bluebonnets. This little road trip will have to suffice for now. There is a pasture that is filled with wildflowers, and the National Flower of Texas is the main attraction.

There are people all around taking pictures so you can imagine how Zeb feels. He’s is still kind of shy around other people.

Zebadiah Duck – Day 14

30-30-1 Project Day 14

Zebadiah likes flowers and always takes time to stop and smell. He says they are “smiles from heaven”. The yellow flowers remind him of some of his little yellow relatives that he misses and hopes to see someday.

Zeb would like to see the fields of bluebonnets, but will have to wait till the weather is better. Maybe next weekend when he takes his first trip to the Texas Hill Country.

Zebadiah Duck Day 11

30-30-1 Project Day 11

Growing up in the city has some advantages. You can drive almost any direction to find good places to eat, and shop. Sometimes this is a disadvantage because its easy to go a little overboard with spending, especially if you are on a tight budget.

The only time Zebadiah has been this high in the air is when his family migrated to Texas. He was too young to remember how they actually got here. Zeb wanted to see for himself the roadwork that is the backbone of the city.

Although the amount of traffic is very low this morning, He thinks he will stay closer to the creeks and ponds. Why would a duck need to be on the highway anyway?

Zebadiah Duck – Day 8

30-30-1 Project Day 8

It turns out Zebadiah likes country music just like I do. He watched the awards show humming with the songs and anticipating the next song and trying to pick the winners. Zeb does have a few favorites, Reba being one of them.

He has an opinion of the state of country music as well. Zeb says some songs are not country but he listens anyway. It’s hard to beat Three chords and the truth but then again, it doesn’t hurt to be diverse either. Without diversity, wouldn’t life be boring?

Zebadiah Duck – Day 7

30-30-1 Project Day 7

Today Zebadiah finally made it down to the creek that is just behind our house. It was a cool overcast spring day after a nice rain from the day before. He has often wondered about this creek and it was time for him to take a little swim.

As he waddles around in the water he can almost make out some of his live relatives over his shoulder. He wishes they would come closer to visit, but the live ducks are not to sure about young Zebadiah, being a green rubber duck and all. Being the optimist that he is, Zeb thinks he may get to know them better at some point. Only time will tell.

Zebadiah loves this little concrete filled creek. It is peaceful and away from the everyday life in the city. There are deeper waters not too far away so he is careful not to swim too fast or far. He can hear other birds the background as he enjoys the cool water.

Zeb plans to come here often. He dreams that someday he will meet other rubber ducks floating lazily down stream.

Zebadiah Duck – Day 5

30 – 30 – 1 Project

Today Zeb decided to venture out a little farther. Sitting in the park looking towards the creek, he takes in the foggy morning in Texas. He can barely see the tree line and almost smell the water. Ducks do have a keen sense for water. It’s a long walk for a rubber duck, but he can’t fly either. Maybe this weekend I’ll take for a little swim.

There is always a little water in the creek. Sometimes after a rain the creek will swell over the banks, but most of the time it is knee deep to a duck. There are parts of the creek that are waist deep to a human. We can see live ducks and turtles in the creek on many days.

Zebadiah Duck – Day 3

30 – 30 – 1 Project Day 3

Sunrise – Zebadiah is an early riser like me. Every time I go to get him he is awake. I’m not sure if he ever really sleeps.

Today he wanted to see the sunrise. I’ts kinda hard to see the actual sunrise over the horizon since we live in the city. Someday Zeb will venture out and be able to see the sun rising over the land darkened by the nightfall.

This is another crisp spring morning in Texas. Other birds are chirping away today. Cardinals, Blue Jays, Carolina Chickadees, and many others fill the morning air. Zeb just quietly sits and takes in the beauty of the sunrise.

It’s hard to tell when a rubber duck gets excited, but Zeb thought he saw a relative fly by!

Zebadiah Duck – Day 2

30-30-1 Project Day 2

As the sun filters in from the kitchen window, the steam rises from the cup, the air is filled with the aroma of coffee. A good hot cup of coffee with some cream and sugar starts my day!

Coffee is one of the best things in the morning to me. The aroma of fresh coffee when the can is opened is hard to beat, although frying bacon may give it a run for its money. The next best thing is the warm, mildly sweet, creamy first sip, Mmmm!

Morning coffee with Zeb is pretty much the same each day. He doesn’t talk, or drink coffee but he does like to hang around the kitchen table. I think Zeb likes the way coffee smells too! I am not sure Zebadiah will ever try coffee, but as time goes on, something may change his mind.
