Summer Vacation Part 2

I wrote in another post we took a trip to Sedona, Arizona for our family summer vacation. While we were close, we decided to take a not so quick 4 hour road trip to the Grand Canyon West Rim.

On the drive, there we went through the Grapevine Mesa Joshua Tree Forrest. These trees are a members of the Yucca plant.

About ten more miles the Grand Canyon West Rim and Sky walk. Forrest fires in California and Arizona created some challenging and interesting shots.

Very pretty site to see. The Grand Canyon is a marvel at best. I can’t imagine how much water passed through to create such beauty.

Summer Vacation – 2018

The first full week of August we took a family vacation to Arizona with the city of Sedona as the final destination. Several hours of driving and a few hundred photos later, unfortunately we had to come back home.

We are ready to go back to see and do some of the things we missed. I didn’t get to capture some of the beauty in the Red Rocks because of Forrest fires in the area. The smoke caused some very hazy and interesting shots, especially in the early mornings.

Over the next few weeks I will post some photos of the beautiful scenery, (some in its own way) structures and landscape we saw.

We attended Mass Sunday morning in Sedona at St. John Vianney church.

When Mass was over we went sight seeing to the Chapel of the Holy Cross.

It looks better in Person, but they call this the Virgin Mary, Baby Jesus (the small point toward the left) and Two Nuns

Chapel of the Holy Cross_20180805_036There are some very spiritual connections all around Sedona. The city actually has a Vortex Map. Although we did not go to many of the Vortex’s, Chapel of the Holy Cross  was very peaceful and pretty.

Stay tuned for more over the next few weeks.

Until next time, Peace be with you!

Carlsbad Caverns NM

Over the Memorial day weekend we took a road trip to West Texas and decided to go even further west to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. It has been 20+ years since we have been there.

Of course the Caverns have not changed much, but still fun to walk the 2.5 miles to and around the very bottom. Then I decided to try to beat the 1 hour elevator ride back to the top. I got my workout for sure.

I have never taken pictures in such low light, but flash was allowed and some areas are lighted. It was hard to focus the camera, but here are a few of the better pictures.

I would like to go all the way out there for close up.
